When I started seat61.com...
...I fondly thought I could get all the photos I needed myself. However, I can't get away as much as I'd like to, and even when I go somewhere, Sod's Law says that a year later they rebrand all the trains or refurbish the interiors and I need new ones. I've finally accepted that I can't do it all myself!
Can you help with photos?
So if you get any good photos which I could use on this site, I'd be very grateful. In particular:
...any train, station, scenery, food or location not currently illustrated, where you think a photo might help or encourage other travellers;
...anything that has changed significantly from what's shown on the site;
...any shots which better illustrate the train, station or journey than the ones I currently have;
...any really great scenery or (for example) restaurant car food shots that might encourage other travellers.
Wide-angle shots are always better than close-ups, I can crop or straighten the image if necessary, as long as it's clear & in focus.
Emailing photos to traininfo@seat61.com works fine, or for large files WeTransfer is easy to use and free.
I always credit photos that aren't mine, let me know how you'd like your name shown (or if you'd prefer it not to be shown). I'm happy to add a link to your Twitter or YouTube channel or website if you prefer. Needless to say, you retain all copyright.
Specific things...
Australia: Photos of the Ghan or Indian Pacific inside or out, food, lounges, restaurant, sleepers, scenery. Sydney Central station, East Perth station, Adelaide station, Melbourne Southern Cross. My own photos are getting a bit long in the tooth and it'll be a while before I can get back to Oz!
Israel: Photos of new fast link to Jerusalem and new station in Jerusalem. Opened not long after my own trip to Israel, when the new station was a building site!
South Africa: The Blue Train inside & out, sleepers, lounge, restaurant, food. My own photos are pre-digital and pre-refurb - but what a train!
Any photos or feedback gratefully received from Algeria, Bangladesh, Burma/Myanmar, Cameroon, Cuba, Ethiopia, Georgia, Kenya, Mexico, Pakistan, Tanzania, Peru, Uzbekistan, Zambia, Zimbabwe and elsewhere...
